Preservation of natural resources essential

Dumka, Nov 19 (UNI) Mr Guntor Cris, a parliamentarian from Germany, has emphasised that balance between preservation of natural resources and economic development was necessary for proper development of backward classes.

Mr Cris, addressing a two-day workshop on 'Sustainable Development among the disadvantaged community' here, said the next generation would face immense problems if the natural resources were exploited.

''It is important that natural resources are utilised, not exploited,'' Mr Cris maintained.

Dr D Mardy from All India Santhal Welfare and Cultural Society said preservation of natural resources was possible by adopting traditional tribal governance.

''The resources could be presrved if the Manjhi Pargnait system were implemented in the villages of Santhal Pargana,'' he said.
