Maruti Suzuki launched A-Star in Punjab

Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) With an eye on the flamboyant Punjabis, the country's largest auto manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd today launched its latest offering, A-Star here today.

This latest offer in three models will be priced at Rs 3,50, 238 for the A-star Lxi, Rs 3,78,287 for the Vxi and Rs 4,15,374 for the Zxi model (ex showroom prices).

''This is Suzuki's fifth strategic model and will be manufactured in India only,'' company Chief General Manager (sales) R S Kalsi told reporters here.

According to Mr Kalsi, A-star is the company's eight vehicle launch in less than 40 months. This new car reinforces Maruti's dominance in the highly competitive A2 segment where the company holds a whopping 55 per cent market share, he added.

"The Punjab market (including Chandigarh) has always been of special significance for the company", he added.

The vehicle, which is to be produced at the company's Manesar plant, is available in three variants with nine colours. The company will commence the export of A-star to Europe in early next year.

The company targets to sell about 50,000 units in the Indian market and one lakh units abroad.

Maruti claims that according to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the A-Star delivers a mileage of 19.59 km per litre.

The A-Star will be the latest in a series of global models that Suzuki, MSI's Japanese parent, has launched over the past few years and will be manufactured solely in India.
