Left parties picket Sub-Collector office
Vijayawada, Nov 20 (UNI) As many as 400 activists of Left parties today picketed the Sub-Collector office here, demanding the Andhra Pradesh government to provide land and 'Pucca' houses to landless poor in the state.
CPI Legislator (City West) Nasar Vali, CPI Vijayawada Secretary K Subba Raju, All India Democratic Women's Association State Unit Secretary K Swarooparani and CPI(M) City Secretary R Raghu attended the picketing.
Alleging that 1.47 lakh families in the city were homeless, the Left leaders urged the government to allot houses to all eligible families.
They also charged the Rajasekhara Reddy government for not taking necessary measures to contain the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities in the state.
Talking to newspersons after the picketing, Mr Subba Raju said the party would spearhead their struggle if the government failed to solve their demands.
Meanwhile, the Left parties picketed the Collector's office at Machilipatnam on the issue.
