LDF Govt failed to arrest price hike: Poojary

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 20 (UNI) Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary today said the Marxist-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in Kerala failed miserably to arrest the hike in the prices of essential commodities.

''However, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan is more interested to stage an agitation on the streets of Delhi rather than taking steps to bring down the prices,'' Mr Poojary told newspersons here.

Stating that he had never expected such an attitude from an administrator, Mr Poojary said it would pose a serious threat to the federal nature of the country if every Chief Minister started agitaitons like that.

Though it was the primary duty of the state government to bring down the prices, nothing had been done by it. Adding to the woes of the people, the government had hiked the electricity and water tariff and bus and taxi fare, he alleged.
