Four held for robbery in Nashik Dist

Nashik, Nov 20 (UNI) Four robbers were arrested by Igatpuri police near Latifwadi on the Mumbai-Agra highway today, as they were fleeing to Mumbai in a car after snatching a gold chain of a woman.

Police said Vidya Jadhav (23), resident of Phulenagar in Igatpuri, was crossing a by-pass near Igatpuri this morning, when a gang of four robbers came suddenly in a car and stopped next to her. Then, one of them snatched a gold chain that she was wearing and sped towards Mumbai.

When the woman started shouting, some people in the area chased the car while others informed the police. The police intercepted the car near Latifwadi and took the youths as well as the car in their custody, police said.

The police recovered from them the gold chain, one chopper, two iron rods, one tommy (a weapon) and some wooden batons from the car.

The youths, originally from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, are at present residing at Kalyan, they added.

They, however, refused to disclose their identities.
