Court grants bail to Sameer Kulkarni in assault case

Pune, Nov 20 (UNI) A court at Khadki today granted bail to Sameer Kulkarni, accused in the September 29 Malegaon bomb blast case, on solvency surety of Rs 25,000 in connection with the assault on Pastor Peter David Silway of Vineyard Workers' Church.

Kulkarni, member of the Hindu radical outfit Abhinav Bharat, was produced this afternoon before the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Renuka Satav of the Khadki Cantonment Court, who granted him bail.

Later, in the evening, the Nashik ATS took Kulkarni's custody from Khadki Police. He will be shifted to Nashik Road Jail today.

Kulkarni was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on October 28 in connection with the September 29 Malegaon bomb blast.

He was brought here yesterday in connection with a case of assault registered against him at Khadki Police Station.
