Committee urges S Rly to introduce day express train service

Pudukkottai, Nov 20 (UNI) The Pudukottai District Railway Users' Committee has urged the Soutern Railway administration to introduce day express train services between Karaikudi and Chennai and Karaikudi and Coimbatore via Pudukottai to benefit the commuters in this district of Tamil Nadu.

A committee release said here today that a resolution adopted to this effect at its emergency meeting, held here yesterday, also wanted that special town buses to cater to the needs of the passengers alighting from or boarding the newly-introduced Rameswaram-Chennai and the Chennai-Rameswaram trains.

The meeting said these trains crossed Pudukottai railway stations in the wee hours, and the absence of adequate autorickshaws at the railway station posed a considerable problem.
