JK: 31 Magistrates appointed for polls
Srinagar, Nov 20: To ensure free, fair and peaceful polls in four Assembly constituencies of Kulgam district in south Kashmir in the sixth phase on Dec 17, the election authorities have appointed 31 Magistrates. Official sources said today the District Election Officer (DEO), Kulgam, has appointed 31 Magistrates for maintenance of law and order to ensure peaceful conduct of Assembly elections in the district.
Four Assembly segments in the district -- Noorabad, Kulgam, Devsar and Homeshalibugh -- are going to polls on Dec 17 for which the notification will be issued on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a meeting of officials held at Kulgam today discussed the contingency plan for snow clearance from roads, in case of snowfall during the election process.
