Nun rape case:Court rejects TI parade in Delhi,fixes Nov 24

Bhubaneswar, Nov 19 (UNI) Baliguda SDJM Dolagobinda Barik today rejected the appeal of the nun, allegedly raped at K Nuagaon in the strife-torn Kandhmal district on August 25, to conduct TI parade in New Delhi and ordered that she should appear personally for TI parade at Baliguda on November 24 next.

The counsel for the nun, who appeared before the court, appealed that the TI parade should be conducted in Delhi as the nun was not in a position to travel such a long distance from Delhi to Baliguda to attend the TI parade on health ground.

The SDJM, who heard the counsel, however, rejected the prayer and fixed November 24 the next date for conducting the TI parade at Baliguda.

The court had earlier fixed November ten for holding the TI parade at Baliguda and asked the nun to appear in person.

But her counsel had moved a petition before the judge seeking one month time for appearance on the ground that she had been undergoing treatment in New Delhi for the trauma she had suffered after she was raped during the ''Orissa Bandh'' on August 25.

The nun had also appealed to allow the TI parade to be conducted outside the state.

The SDJM had rejected both appeals and ordered the nun to appear in person before the court today for the TI parade.

The Orissa crime Branch police probing into the nun rape case had moved the Baliguda SDJM court seeking a direction to the nun to cooperate with the investigation process and the TI parade to identify the culprits.

The crime branch police had so far arrested nine people, three of them from Palghat in Kerala for their involvement in the rape case and conducted the DNA test.

However, the TI parade could not be taken up as the nun, who had filed the FIR with the Baliguda police station on August 26 last, remained untraced till she appeared before media in New Delhi on October 24 last to demand for a CBI inquiry into the rape case.
