5-day ICSI conference opens tomorrow at Jaipur

New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) More than 4,000 delegates will attend a five-day conference on "Accountancy Profession-Shining Bridge Between Global Economies" beginning in Jaipur tomorrow.

Corporate Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta will inaugurate the event on the accounting profession and the global economy, being organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

Experts in the area of accounting, auditing and management from International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and other international bodies including leaders from trade and industry of India will interact on the occasion. About 250 delegates from about 40 different countries have confirmed their participation.

According to ICAI President Ved Jain, the meet will dwell on topical issues related to governance, financial engineering, regulatory compliance, value creation and corporate social responsibility. Mr Jain informed that his institute is also hosting the CAPA and South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) events coinciding with the international conference at Jaipur.

A statutory body set up under an Act of Parliament in 1949, ICAI is the second largest accounting body in the world. Headquartered here, it operates through five regional offices and 117 branches all over the country and 21 overseas chapters. ICAI is managed by a Council of elected representatives and those nominated by the Government.
