JD(U) opposes BJP on Pragya issue
Patna, Nov 18 (UNI) The JD(U) has taken a different stand from that of its alliance partner BJP on the issue of Pragya Bharti, an accused in the Malegaon blasts case.
Reacting to the statement of BJP national president Rajnath Singh regarding the alleged torture of sadhus by the UPA government, Bihar Chief Minister and senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar today said he was totally opposed to the stand of Mr Singh.
The investigating agencies should be allowed to conduct their probe without any interference, he said, adding the law would take its own course.
He further said it was the duty of the agencies to interrogate the suspects and it was wrong to link terrorism with any religion.
He urged the political parties to avoid such practices.
Mr Kumar also exhorted the political leaders to be united on the terrorism issue.
The Chief Minister, however, said the JD(U) and BJP were allies and would contest the elections unitedly but the issue of Pragya was a sensitive matter and the party had ideologies different from that of the BJP on it.
