China denies reports of sending troops to Afghanistan

Beijing, Nov 18 : China has reportedly denied the media reports claiming that it were planning to send its troops to participate in the ISAF in Afghanistan.

The country's foreign ministry said that it does not send its troops for peacekeeping operations except those approved by the UN Security Council.

"China has no intention of sending troops to Afghanistan. Except the United Nations peacekeeping operations approved by the UN Security Council, China never sends troops abroad," the Xinhua news agency quoted foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang as saying in a statement.

He added: "The media reports about China sending troops to participate in the ISAF in Afghanistan are groundless."
