TNUJ doubles family benefit fund assistance

Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Union of Journalists (TNUJ) has announced doubling of family benefit fund paid to the families of journalists who die in harness, from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.

TNUJ President D S Ravindra Doss announced this after handing over an assistance of Rs 10,000 each families of these Journalists, who died recently.

He said the enhanced assistance would be given to the families from January next. The union had been giving the family benefit fund for the past three yearsnow.

At a function held here last evening the union distributed Rs 10,000 each to the families of Dinaboomi Photographer John Sureshkumar, Tamizhan TV Chief Reporter Rajadurai and Reporter Sugumar.

The Union also decided to donate Rs 25,000 to the Sri Lankan Tamils Relief Fund, collected by the Tamil Nadu government, Mr Ravindra Doss said.
