Port of Le Havre ties up with Seahorse Agencies
Mumbai, Nov 17 (UNI) Leading European Port, Le Havre today signed up Seahorse Ship Agencies as its representative in India to promote the port as a gateway to Europe.
A dominant European port for both containerised and bulk goods, the Port of Le Havre, realising the growing importance of movement of freight from and to India, has made a formal presence in the country to woo shippers and traders to look for the French port, both for warehousing and transportation of goods to other European destinations.
Marketing Director of Le Port of Le Havre Authority, Mr Pierre-Yves Collardey and Chairman of Seahorse Ship Agencies Capt Avinash Batra told newsmen here that the port had witnessed a record 25.3 per cent increase in tonnage in container traffic last year.
Mr Collardey said in lines with the development of trade and especially that of containers, the logistics supply strongly developed by the port positioned at number one in that country and is handling 50 per cent of the maritime trade.
The port of Le Havre had seen a distinctive rise in traffic volume from India, with a total of 4,00,000 tonnes comprising of 110,000 tonnes of container trade. He said that the port also enabled better transit time to and from Europe and added value to the existing transhipping lines to India.
