Councillor, 20 others taken into preventive custody
New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) Delhi Police have apprehended a Councillor, an Independent candidate and 20 others on suspicion that they could create trouble in Najafgarh area in the run-up to the Assembly election, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Satbir Silas Bedi said today.
She however, said details about those arrested were not available.
The CEO said other than the Councillor, the arrested are from Rohtak, Jhajhhar and Fatehabad. ''They were believed to have been brought into Delhi for show of muscle power,'' she told reporters here.
About the distribution of voter ID cards, Ms Bedi said 82 per cent cards have been distributed till date.
She also said the call centre set up by the CEO has been getting huge response, almost 2000 calls a day.
The CEO also said each candidate has now been allowed to take four vehicles to canvas apart from his own. As each consituency now has four wards, the candidates have been allowed to take four vehicles, she said.
