Road blockade brings vehicles to standstill at Jhargram
Jhargram, Nov 16 (UNI) The situation at Jhargram took a turn for worse this evening following a road blockade by the Kurmi Students' organisation, a student outfit of the tribals, by failing trees near Lodhasuli on the NH-6 Mumbai road, police said.
As a result hundreds of cars coming from Jamshedpur and those coming from Kolkata had been forced to stop at the point, police added.
The eight-km-long jam on both sides of Lodhasuli had kept thousands of people along with children and women confined in their cars in the forest area.
No police activity, however, was seen in the area and the the tourists were going without food and drinking water, the tourists alleged.
Meanwhile, about 35 tribal leaders riding motorcycles were guarding the stretch between Kantapahari and Dahijuri to prevent any outsider from entering the area from Jhargram side.
