Karnataka government renames village
Hubli, Nov 16 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today declared that Baad, the birth place of the great philosopher Kanakadasa, in Haveri district will be renamed as 'Kanakana Baad' to make it a pilgrimage as well as tourist centre.
Talking to newspersons here, he said that many seers have appealed him to rename the village and it will be decided in the next Cabinet meeting.
Mr Yeddyurappa said the government will rebuild the Kanaka Palace, the basic structure of which was found during the recent excavations.
More financial aid will be provided to build a good library, a community hall and make it more attractive for the tourists.
The Chief Minister said North Karnataka will get a new fillip during his tenure and urged for the cooperation of the people.
