I declined 'Bigg Boss', was against my values: Smriti Irani
New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Television actress and producer and now, a politician Smriti Irani, famous for her portrayal of Tulsi in the just concluded 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' says she was offered a role in the ongoing reality 'Big Boss' on the general entertainment channel,'Colors' but declined it, as it went against her basic values.
''I was offered a role in 'Big Boss' but I declined it. I think it was against my 'sanskaras',''Smriti told a private TV channel.
Speaking on the programme 'Seedhi Baat' on Aaj Tak, Smriti, however, refused to comment on Rahul Mahajan's participation in the 'Bigg Boss'.
''As far as others are concerned, I cannot comment on their decisions,'' Smriti said on the programme, to be aired tonight.
Asked about life after the serial 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi', the longest running show on television in recent times, Smriti said, ''be it comic or serious, I will do all kinds of roles in television and Bollywood. However, I will be more selective about roles offered to me in Bollywood.'' On a question about very few women being given tickets by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the coming elections to the state assemblies in Delhi, MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Smriti said,''as far as distribution of the tickets are concerned, it is the chief ministers of the states who decide about the candidates.
However, our party is the only party which has enforced 33 per cent reservation for women at the grassroots level. No other party has made efforts to give representation of women at that level.'' On a question about Sadhvi Pragya's alleged involvement in the Malegaon blasts, Smriti said, as far ''As Sadhvi Pragya is concerned I feel that until the investigation is complete there should be no mudslinging.''
