Hupari town observes bandh against MLA Shalini Patil
Kolhapur, Nov 16 (UNI) A Bandh was observed in Hupari town of the district today to protest Kranti Sena founder Shalini Patil's alleged remarks against Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The bandh was called by various Dalit organisations to register their protest against Ms Patil, mla, who had allegedly said that Dr Ambedkar was like an agent, police said.
The agitators took out a rally with Ms Patil's effigy but police foiled their attempts to burn it. The agitators then started pelting stones, damaging a truck and STD booth, and later sat on a Dharna against Assistant Police Inspector Mr Todkar, police said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashwini Sanap reached the site and assured that she will look into the matter, following which the agitators called off their agitation, police said.
