Fake currency worth Rs 84,000 seized, 5 held
Lucknow, Nov 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police has seized counterfeit currency worth over Rs 84,000 after the arrest of five people, including a doctor, in Varanasi and Saharanpur district overnight.
Reports reaching from Director General of Police (DGP) office today stated the Varanasi police yesterday caught three people red-handed when they were buying an item with the fake currency in the market in Chetganj area.
The recovered currency included 74 notes of Rs 1,000 denomination.
Besides this, phoney currency having face value of Rs 10,300 and equipment used in its making were seized from Kotwali (dehat) in Saharanpur district last evening.
Police had managed to nail down a doctor and other guilty in the connection.
