Couple charred to death in fire in Junagadh district

Rajkot, Nov 16 (UNI) A 45-year-old man and his wife were charred to death in a fire, that broke out at their house in Dhamlej village of Sutrapada taluka in Junagadh district, sources said today.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon, killing Shantaben (35) on the spot, while Babubhai Chavda succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital later, police said.

Meanwhile, their children -- a daughter and two sons, were not at home during the incident, averting a major tragedy, police said.

The cause of the fire was not yet known, they added.
