CAT exams, a ray of hope for aspirants

Bangalore, Nov 16: Though the world is hit by economic crisis which may effect the placement prospectives, more than fifty thousand aspirants are ready to take-up Common Admission Test (CAT) tests across the country on Sunday, Nov 16. The test which begins at 1000 hrs IST will be conducted upto 1300 hrs. It will decide the future of half a lakh aspirants.

23 centres have been alloted for the exam. CAT exams are conducted to fill-up 1800 seats in seven IIMs and several other business schools in India. This CAT entrance may be one of the last to be conducted by the IIMs, which had initiated steps to outsource the exams and make it external in the form of GRE and GMAT. Reports say that CAT entrance may go online in two years time. Aspirants who are taking CAT this year will get admissions in the B-Schools only in 2009. They will complete the MBA course by 2011. Experts believe that economy will be stable by then.
