2 militants shot dead in encounter
Imphal, Nov 16 (UNI) Two suspected militants were shot dead in an encounter by Imphal West District Police Commandos near Manipur University campus here last night.
Police said an encounter took place near the University resulting in the death of two people. One .38 pistol with a live round, one US made carbine, two magazines and three rounds of ammunition were recovered.
The bodies were sent to RIMS Hospital for identification and post-mortem.
In another incident, a bomb blast occurred last evening at Wangkhei Mayum, Imphal East near a mobile tower of Aircel.
The tower was not damaged and no one was injured in the blast.
Police said it was not known if the bomb was thrown to attack the tower or the owner of the house identified as Kh Dhiren, former Director of Agriculture department. Police is enquiring into the matter.
