Three, including two cops, arrested in Moga passport scam
Moga, Nov 15 (UNI) Punjab police today arrested two head constables and a postman for issuing fake passports by preparing forged and tampered documents.
The police arrested head constable Ranjit Singh and constable Jaswinder Pal Singh and postman Om Parkash of Baghapurana for issuing fake passports by preparing forged documents including birth and educational certificates, residential proof, driving licences in connivance with three others who were yet to be arrested, SSP Ashok Baath said in a press conference here today.
"Three cops posted in security branch of the SSP office in connivance with postman Om Parkash, Ushrani of Health Department and Didar Singh of the Regional Passport Office, Chandigarh were engaged in getting issued fake and bogus passports on fake addresses by preparing and tampering of documents. During the last two years more than 700 bogus documents were issued by these cops,'' the SSP said.
"Even some hardcore criminals from Bathinda, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur have got their passports made on fake addresses and verification by these three Moga cops," he said.
The SSP also stated that even a criminal involved in 13 criminal cases in his home district of Bathinda got his passport through these cops.
