Students attired like Sikh Guru irk devotees
Sultanpur, Nov 15 (UNI) The secretary of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Iqbal Singh has resigned following a controversy over some students allegedly dressing up like Guru Nanak Devji on his birth anniversary celebrations.
As per the allegations, Mr Singh had granted permission to students of a college to dress up like the Guru on the occasion of his 539th birth anniversary on November 13.
The Community members raised objections and sought an immediate resignation of the secretary, former chairman of Sultanpur Gurudwara Haricharan Singh said today.
The programme could only be held after Singh resigned from his post, he informed.
The dressing style of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Ram Raheem, alleged to be similar to that of Guru Gobind Singh , had led to a similar controversy in Haryana.
