Shopkeepers keep shutters down

Imphal, Nov 15 (UNI) The shopkeepers of RIMS road closed down their shops and staged a sit-in protest as suspected militants demanded huge amount of money from them.

The shop keepers said they had no means of giving the money demanded by militants and appealed to the militants not to demand money from small time businessmen who earn their livelihood by opening small shops.

Due to the closure of the shops people living in the nearby area specially the patients at the RIMS hospital, Imphal hospital and government quarters at Lamphel faced hardships.
