Rebels worry BJP, Cong in Chhatarpur
Chhatarpur, MP, Nov 15 (UNI) The spectre of rebel candidates of various parties from five assembly seats in Chhatarpur has forced national parties to change their strategy.
Most interesting contest could be witnessed in Rajnagar assembly seat where the main fight is between rebel candidates.
Congress candidate Vikram Singh alias Nati Raja and BJP nominee Vijay Bahadur Singh Bundela, both had defected the SP, while the BSP has fielded former legislator Shankar Pratap Singh, who had quit the Congress.
All the three candidates are members in the present Vidhan Sabha and belong to Kshatriya community. All of them are affluent and resourceful and a fierce electoral battle is expected.
Former minister Manvendra Singh alias Bhanvar Raja has quit the Congress to contest from Maharajpur assembly seat as an independent, while the Congress has fielded district panchayat president Veer Singh Rajput.
Rebel BJP candidate Virendra Chourasia was contesting on Bharatiya Jan Shakti ticket, while the SP and the BJP had fielded Anjul Saxena and Pushpendranath Pathak respectively. The presence of Mr Singh has worried both the Congress and BJP. The main contest now appears to be between the BJS and independent candidate.
