Raghuvansh asks Nitish for rectification of BPL list
Patna, Nov 15 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has asked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take steps for rectification of errors crept in the below poverty line (BPL)list.
In a letter written to Mr Kumar, which was made available to the media today, Mr Singh said due to the erroneous BPL list, benefits of various welfare schemes aimed at improving the condition of under privileged section of the society were not reaching the targeted end.
Stressing on the need for the error free BPL list for effective implementation of various schemes, including Indira Awas Yojna, Old Age Pension Scheme and Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Programme, Mr Singh said it should be rectified after properly scanning the complaints received in this regard.
The Union Minister said the BPL list should be placed before Gram Sabha for its finalisation as it was mentioned in guidelines circulated to states for preparation of the list.
