Washington, Nov.15 : Republican presidential candidate John McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, has said that his boss affectionately called reporters "little jerks," but in the case of reporters from the Time's, he actually meant it.

According to Davis, he was particularly annoyed with James Carney and Michael Scherer.

On the "Time" magazine interview where McCain was non-responsive, leading journalists to conclude he was unhappy with his own campaign, Davis was quoted by Politico as saying: "He didn't want to do that interview, he thought they were being jerks."

On the Couric interview, Davis said Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin thought it would be softer because she was being interviewed by a woman.

"She (Palin) was under the impression the Couric thing was going to be easier than it was. Everyone's guard was down for the Couric interview," he said.
