JD(S) to launch campaign against BJP govt in K'taka
Hubli, Nov 15 (UNI) The Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka will launch a campaign against the failures of the BJP-led Government in the State, former minister and party senior leader Basavaraj Horatti said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said a meeting of the party chaired by new Working President H D Kumaraswamy would be held shortly to chalk out the campaign programme.
Coming down heavily on BJP and Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said the JD(S) had earlier decided to desist from launching any criticism against BJP Government till the completion of six months period.
But on witnessing the dismal performance of the government, the party felt that there was no use in keeping quiet and should rise to the occasion to caution the Government and play an effective role as Opposition, he added.
He said the BJP leaders were under the impression that the opposition was kepping silent due to its weakness.''But they are wrong. We wanted to give an opportunity and breathing time to the new government. But the government has totally failed to read the pulse of the opposition and the people.
Pointing out that in the history of Karnataka, no government had effected so much transfers of officials as the BJP government did, he said and claimed that none of the officials were listening to the Government and total anarchy was prevailing.
The Secretary General of the party P C Siddangoudar, who was present, said steps were being taken to refurbish the party and build it as an effective opposition.
The base of the party in north Karnataka would be strengthened, he added.
