Ferrous metals ease

Mumbai, Nov 15 (UNI) Ferrous metal prices declined today on low buying support by stockists, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

In ferrous metals, copper heavy slashed by Rs 300 per quintal on sluggish demand by bulk consumers and finally ended at Rs 25,000.

Similarly, brass utensils and brass cuttings also slumped by Rs 100 per quintal each on persistent offloading by stock holders and closed at Rs 17,500 and Rs 18,400 per quintal respectively.

However, aluminium utensils remained steady on moderate demand by stockists.

In non-ferrous metal category, barring nickel cathode, all metals remained unaltered. Nickel cathode eased by Rs 5 on lack of demand, traders added.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 25,000, copper utensils - Rs 23,300, brass utensils - Rs 17,500, brass cuttings - Rs 18,400 and aluminium utensils - Rs 9,500.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 28,400, aluminium ingots - Rs 11,700, zinc slab - Rs 7,200, lead ingots - Rs 9,000, tin slab - Rs 870 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 760 per kg.
