Islamabad, Nov 14 : Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) has said that the US had been violating international law by launching missile attacks in the Tribal Areas, and that Pakistan government was trying its best to stop such attacks.

"The attacks are in violation of international law and in violation of all understandings between the two sides. Statements made by Pakistani leadership as well as the rules of engagement are very clear. The government of Pakistan is committed to do whatever is possible to stop these attacks. We are working on several levels to address the issue," the Daily Times quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Muhammad Sadiq as saying at a weekly news briefing.

About the Kashmir issue, Sadiq said Pakistan would continue its moral, diplomatic and political support for the people of Kashmir. Islamabad would welcome mediation by the US or any other country to resolve the Kashmir issue, he added.

He further said: "Pakistan is ready to consider any constructive proposal for addressing this dispute whether bilaterally or through a multilateral organisation or third party mediation. The sooner this dispute is resolved the better the region would be."

The spokesman said the fifth round of the ongoing Indo-Pak composite dialogue was underway, but the reported strengthening of its air bases by India along the international border areas would "undermine" the CBMs and trigger a new arms race in the region.
