NHRC issues notice to TN authorities on Law college incidents
New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission today issued a notice to Tamil Nadu's Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, asking them to file reports on the alleged incident of beating of a student by more than 20 other students in the presence of police officials in the Dr Ambedkar Law College in Chennai on November 12.
The officials have been asked to submit their reports within four weeks, a NHRC spokesman said.
The notice has been issued on a complaint filed by an NGO, World Human Rights Commission and Rescue Centre, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The complainant alleged that despite mediapersons requesting the police officials to protect the student, when he was being attacked by students wielding dangerous weapons, they failed to respond.
