Minister inspects Govt School for Blind in Mysore

Mysore, Nov 14: Minister for Women and Child Welfare, P Narendraswamy paid a visit to the Government School for the Blind here on Thursday, Nov 13 and heard the students complain of poor quality of food, stinking toilets, drunken staff members on duty, dereliction of duty of the crafts teacher and paucity of staff.

He advised the 49 students in the Primary and Secondary sections of the school to complain to Deputy Director of the Department while assuring them that the Director of the Department appointed only two weeks ago would be instructed to set right the system in the Institution. He also assured them that steps would be taken to fill the vacant posts in the Braille Press at the school, the only facility among the four blind schools in the State at Mysore, Davanagere, Gulbarga and Hubli.

The boys also complained of mosquito menace in the hostel and demanded supply of mosquito nets for them.

Addressing a press meet after visit to the institution, the Minister disclosed that out of the 40 posts vacant totally in the four schools for the Blind in the State, 18 were vacant in Mysore.
