300 kg Indian coinage seized, one held
Lucknow, Nov 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police late last night seized 300 kg of Indian coinage after the arrest of a person in Mirzapur district.
Reports reaching here today from state Director General of Police (DGP) office said police laid a trap near Girdhar crossing and nabbed Ramlakhan Yadav.
The seizure, weighing around 19 kg, included coins having face value of Rs two, Rs one and 50, 20 and 10 paise.
On interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, saying the coins were purchased at a cheap price from traders in Bahdohi and Varanasi. Later, the coins were melted and used in the making of utensils, blades and jewellery.
