UHBVN, DHBVN offer one-time settlement scheme for defaulters
Chandigarh, Nov 13 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam have offered a scheme for settlement of all type of cases against defaulters pending in various courts, through Mega Lok Adalat, by paying 50 per cent of the penalty.
Surcharge levied on the arrears in such cases would be waived off, an official spokesman said.
The power distribution companies have decided to introduce 'One Time Settlement Scheme' for disputes pending in courts, in view of ensuing Mega Lok Adalats scheduled to be held on December 20 and 21 at all the district head quarters of Haryana.
The scheme would be available to all categories of consumers including the theft of electricity cases and would cover all disputes with consumers pending in courts including Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum, State Commission or in Arbitration, etc as on October 31, 2008.
All such disputes where penalties have been levied can be settled through the Mega Lok Adalats provided the consumers or the applicants pay 50 per cent of the amount initially assessed, without any surcharge.
The scheme will also include the cases like the amount charged due to checking by Maintenance and Protection (M&P) Wing, on account of slowness of meter and the cases where amount has been charged on average basis.
Where unauthorised load detected results in change of category from low tension (LT) industrial to high tension (HT) industrial, LT surcharge at the prescribed rate of 25 per cent of sale of power (SOP) shall be payable in addition to the amount charged for the settlement.
The scheme will not be applicable where the dispute is on account of applicability of multiplying factor. However, surcharge will be waived off in such cases also.
The scheme will not be applicable to the cases where 100 per cent payment has been made by the consumers. The cases already settled and decided will not be re-opened.
