Two MNS activists held for extortion in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Nov 13 (UNI) Two activists of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were arrested by police here for extorting a sum of Rs 10,000 from the director of an educational institution.

According to police, the deputy city unit president of MNS, Ramesh Vinayak Patil (31), and his associate, Shivaji Pannalal Mhaske (21), contacted Badshaha Fatru Patel, one of the directors of Hirajibaba Apang Vidyalaya, over the suspension of a lady cook.

They allegedly threatened to lodge a complaint of rape and molestation against him and demanded Rs 50,000 to avoid lodging of the complaint against him. To get rid of the harassment, Mr Patel gave Rs 10,000 to them on November 9. However, they demanded more money. So he informed the police, who laid a trap near the Baba Petrol Pump and arrested Mhaske yesterday.

After his arrest, Patil was also apprehended on the same charge.

A case has been registered against them, police added.
