Two fasting lawyers faint, admitted to GGH
Chennai, Nov 13 (UNI) Two of the fasting advocates, including a woman lawyer, who fainted at the venue today were admitted to the Government General Hospital (GGH) here.
Ms Janaki and Mr Lingam, Executive committee members of the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) were taken by an ambulance to the hospital.
Office-bearers of MHAA are observing an indefinite fast, demanding the government redress their long pending grievances immediately.
MHAA President R C Paul Kanagaraj said the Association has urged the state government to enhance the advocates welfare fund from two lakh to ten lakh and pay stipend to newly enrolled lawyers for three years from the date of enrollment in the Bar.
To bring their demands to the notice of the government and the Chief Justice of the High Court, the office-bearers of the Association embarked on an indefinite fast without boycotting court proceedings.
