Tangmarg-Gulmarg road closed due to heavy snowfall

Srinagar, Nov 13 (UNI) The road to world famous ski resort of Gulmarg from Tangmarg was closed this afternoon following a heavy snowfall.

However, vehicle with chains tied around their tyres were allowed to move from Tangmarg as the road was very slippery.

Officials said the snow clearance machines have already been pressed into service to clear the accumulated snow.

''Because it was still snowing, the snow clearance operation may get affected,'' they said, adding ''we will make every effort to put through the road as soon as possible.'' They said the tourists are enjoying the snowfall and are safe.

However, tourists and media persons from Srinagar were not allowed to Gulmarg from Tangmarg for precautionary measures as the road was slippery because of continued snowfall.
