Solatium for victims of two fire mishaps

Puducherry,Nov 13(UNI) Puducherry Lt.Governor Govind Singh Gurjar today granted a solatium of Rs 53,000 from his welfare fund for providing a relief Rs 500 each to 106 families affected by a fire mishap here.

In a press release here Private Secretary to Lt.Governor, Mr G Srinivas said two major fire accidents occured at Solainagar on November 7 and at Pavanar Nagar oh November 9, respectively, in which 106 huts were gutted.

The department of revenue and disaster management had identified the victims, follwing which the Lt.Governor granted the solatium.

The sum has been handed over to the Collector for disbursement, he adde.
