Physically challenged persons disrupt sports event

Puducherry, Nov 13 (UNI) A section of the physically challenged persons caused aflutter here today by disrupting the Annual Sports Meet function when Puducherry Welfare Minister M Kandasamy was inaugurating it.

When Mr Kandasamy was adressing the gathering, a section of the physically challenged persons shouted slogans demanding they be provided Government jobs instead of sports events.

Later, a group participated in the sports events while some others boycotted it and sat on a dharna in front of the office of Mr Kandasamy to press their demand of the Government job.

However, Mr Kandasamy announced that the administration was taking steps to provide three per cent reservation to the physically challanged persons in Government jobs.
