Kerala Govt. mulling legislation for job security in IT sector

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 13 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the government was planning to bring in a legislation for the security of employees working in the IT sector.

Talking to newspersons after a meeting with IT industry leaders here in a bid to find a solution to the problems faced by the sector he said his government would constitute a special committee to study them.

He said the committee would comprise representatives from the government and the IT sector in the state.It would submit its report in a month. The state government would take all steps to sort out the problems being faced by the sector in the wake of global economic meltdown after receiving the report.

The meeting was held in the wake of termination of services of some employees in technopark here.

He said a special health committee would also be formed with doctors as members.

Mr Achuthandan said he had assured all cooperation to the IT sector and consider the demand for cutting down the electricity cost and rents for buildings.

On the termination of employees from the IT firms here, the officials from IT sector said that this had not happened.
