Jaya uses more elecricity than CM; House told
Chennai, Nov 13 (UNI) Taking a dig at AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa for organising agitations on the power crisis, Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy today said she had paid more than Rs one lakh towards consumption of power for two months.
Replying to a special call attention motion given notice of various political parties on the prevailing power crisis in the State, Mr Veerasamy told the Assembly that Ms Jayalalithaa had paid Rs 1,02,468 as bimonthly electricity charges for her Poes Garden residence alone.
''You can calculate how many units of power she had consumed for two months,'' he said and added that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had paid just Rs 15,000 for two months.
Training his guns on Ms Jayalalithaa for organising agitations alleging that darkness had engulfed the State, Mr Veerasamy reeled out the statistics and said the series agitations by the AIADMK was aimed at cheating the people of the State.
