IITF 2008 begins tomorrow; people to get taste of Pakistan

New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) With twin themes of infrastructure and women empowerment, the 28th edition of India International Trade Fair (IITF) will begin here tomorrow, for which neighbouring Pakistan will be the 'Partner Country'.

The 14-day fair will be inaugurated by Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari at Hamsadhwani theatre in Pragati Maidan. Minister of State for Commerce and Power Jairam Ramesh will also be present on the occasion.

With Pakistan being partner, the visitors can expect to have a taste of delicious food and experience the country's distinct culture and folklore.

This year, over 7,000 companies from India along with as many as 38 countries will participate in the event displaying their products and services.

While 100 companies from Pakistan will display various products like textiles, handicraft, food products and small machinery items, six nations from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines and Singapore will also showcase their products in the fair.

Orissa is participating as partner state in the fair, while Kerala is the focus state.

This year, over three million visitors are expected in the fair.
