Edu dept's free medical camps for children show good results
Bangalore, Nov 13 (UNI) Karnataka Education Department's initiative to conduct free health check-ups and treatment has achieved good results, Primary Education Minister Visvewsar Hegde Kageri said today.
Speaking to mediapersons here, he said recently, the Education Department had tied-up with the state Health Department and conducted a free medical check up for all school children in the state.
He said under the programme, those found with heart, kidney and other ailments were treated freely. Based on the results the programme would continue,'' he added.
The minister said this year as many as 21,500 children from poor families from various schools in the state were taken on an excursion to 'tourist places of interest' under 'Chinnara Karnataka Darshan,' free of cost.
He said as many as 30 lakh school children, including six lakh high school students, took part in this year's 'Pratibha Kaaranji' to rekindle the innate cultural and musical skills in students.
