'Deshdrohi' producers to move court against ban
Mumbai, Nov 13 (UNI) A day after the two-month ban by the Maharashtra government on the release of 'Deshdrohi', a Hindi film depicting the divide between Marathi and non-marathi speaking people in the state, its actor-producer Kamaal Khan today said he would be challenging the decision in court.
Khan told UNI that though the movie reflects the ground reality in the Metropolis, it would not generate any ill-feeling among the viewers against Maharashtrians.
He said his company would soon move the Bombay High Court against the ban.
The film was banned by the government on the grounds that it can escalate the tension between Maharashtrians and north-Indians.
After promos of the movie appeared on the television channels, some leaders of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had raised objection and Police had sent a notice to the producer.
Subsequently, a special screening of the film was arranged for Police last Monday.
The government's decision to ban the film was based on the report submitted by the police.
