BSP candidate abducted in MP

Barwani, MP, Nov 13 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Ramesh Sulia was abducted today at gun point and later released by an unidentified man in this district's Sendhwa constituency, police said.

The BSP candidate was threatened to stop the campaign and was released after three hours, Superintendent of Police Pravin Kumar Mathur said.

Mr Sulia with his companion Lakshman and driver Lalchand were en route by car for campaigning in Balwadi area around noon when he was intercepted by an unidentified pedestrian near Malwan area and was abducted at gun point.

The abductor took the BSP leader to a nearby forest where his four accomplices were waiting for him. The party candidate was robbed of Rs 10,000 and was released with a threat to refrain from campaigning.

The driver lodged a complaint in this regard in Varla police station and Mr Sulia was found in the forest after a brief search.

Sub Divisional Officer Rajiv Mishra, who visited the spot, said Mr Sulia was brought to the Varla police station and prima facie his version did not hold any water. Hence, interrogation was still in progress.

BJP district president Om Soni said the case smacked conspiracy and the accused should be arrested soon.
