Animation parks to generate 2L more jobs:Assocham
New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) Setting up of animation parks with super hi-tech studios could not only make India a hub for three dimensional(3D) animated movies but also generate two lakh employment for skilled animators in next three years, according to Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.
Presently, domestic animation industry outsource advanced animated works to United States, Canada, Philippines, China and Malaysia for making movies for want of hi-tech facilities in India.
Once these animation parks are set in the country, market size of Indian industry could reach over one billion dollar by 2010, clocking compounded annual growth rate of 30 per cent, the chamber said.
In 2007, the animation industry market size was about 450 million dollars.
Share of Indian animation companies at around 100-110 million dollars is a small pie of the 15 billion dollar global animation industry, Assocham said.
The apex chamber sought 10-year tax holiday and concessional land for corporates wanting to set up animation parks to enable them compete with Malaysia, Philippines and China.
