5 get life term for killing dalit
Ujjain, MP, Nov 13 (UNI) A special court has sentenced five people for life term and fined Rs 10,000 each for murdering a Dalit.
Prosecution said that a money-related case between Ambaram and Dalit Ranchhod, residents of Itawa village of this district's Unhel town, was pending in a court. Following the dispute, Padam Singh, brother of Ambaram, his three sons -- Balu Singh, Jaswant Singh and Ram Singh -- and their relative Inder Singh seriously beat up Ranchhod in farms on February 9, 2007.
The victim died while undergoing medical treatment.
Special Court (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe) Judge Jagdish Baheti delievered the verdict yesterday.
