Zilla Panchayat opposes 'Greater Talacauvery' project

Madikeri, Nov 12 (UNI) The Zilla Panchayat has strongly opposed the move by some environmentalists to force the Karnataka government to take up the 'Greater Talacauvery' project.

A resolution opposing the move was passed at the Karnataka Development review meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of ZP President Deergakeshi Shivanna.

Taking strong objection to the move the members urged the chair to write a letter to the government not to encourage any such move.

Kannada Jagruthi Samiti President T P Ramesh, said if the project was implemented villagers would be displaced and lands would become 'no mans zone.' UNI XR MSP ROY 1252
